 The word Kalamkari is derived from a Persian word where 'kalam means pen and 'kari' refers to craftsmanship. Now-a days Kalamkari is a type of hand-painted or block-printed textile, wherein motifs are essentially printed with hand-carved traditional blocks painted by hands using a pen. Motifs are drawn in Kalamkari span from flowers, leaves, and peacocks, to divine characters of Hindu epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana.
